Advanced Healthcare Directive/Power of Attorney for Healthcare Decisions

I cannot express the importance of having an Advanced Healthcare Directive/Living Will/Power of Attorney for Healthcare Decisions prepared. In my line of work, I hear horror stories almost everyday. Children wishing they had guidance as to what their parents wanted for their end of life wishes. Loved ones on life support with no chances of coming back, but family members bickering amongst themselves as to what “the right thing to do” is. Court battles where thousands and thousands of dollars are spent fighting over whose decision holds. And the person whose life is on the line, has no say, because they are incapacitated and didn’t have an advanced health care directive/power of attorney/living will in place.

An advanced health care directive states your wishes as to your health care decisions. Having a Power of Attorney for Healthcare Decisions allows you to nominate agents to make healthcare decisions on your behalf in the event that you are unable to, as well as provides guidance to your agents as to your end of life decisions. The terms are used interchangeably, however having a Power of Attorney in place is more beneficial as it allows you to nominate agents. This document is also known as a Living Will.

Have an advanced healthcare directive/power of attorney prepared to avoid becoming a horror story and saving your loved ones a lot of torment. Contact us today for a free consultation.
